Walter & Mary Smithe M/V Downtime - 06/28/2010

"We were a couple of days late arriving to Marina Paraiso last December due to rough seas. The look of relief on Thomas' face when he greeted our vessel pulling up to dock at Marina Paraiso showed he had been concerned for us. We were new to Isla Mujeres and new clients of Tom and Ely's. But, from that moment on, we felt like old friends! The marina is perfectly situated on the island and our sunset views were fantastic. One of our favorite aspects of staying at Marina Paraiso is the camaraderie of the guests and staff and the impromptu happy hour socials that come together most nights. The quick walk into town is a plus and Isla Mujeres has everything you need and loads of charm. In five years of travel on our Nordhavn 50 this is the friendliest place we have visited. On top of it all Isla Mujeres is one of the safest places in the Caribbean. We look forward to returning in the late fall!"

Robert DeMarco - 06/22/2010

"We came to Paraiso with a To-Do list (more of a wish list!) of 20-30 items. As per usual, we'd have been happy to get half the things done. But, with Tom's help, we were able to cross every single thing off! A very enjoyable experience."

Brad Skolnick - 06/18/2010

"At Marina Paraiso they treat you like family. Since I was new to the sailing game, I enjoyed sitting around the bar and listening to Thomas and the other captains talk about their adventures. They imparted knowledge onto me that has inspired my sailing career and future travels. Thomas, his family and his staff are friendly and helpful in any way possible. Thomas with show you the island life and where to find the best restaurants. I recommend this marina and am already planning my return trip."

"Tom has this saying "If there is anything that I can do then just let me know" It kind of says it all. Every time I stay at Paraiso I end up staying far far longer than intended and that's very cool with me, It's just a great place."

Mandi Coleman - 06/01/2010

"Chris and I were looking to sail from Isla Mujeres to Floirda, and Tom was so helpful. He taught us the way of the radio, he also introduced us to some of the sailors there. He was so accommodating, it felt just like home! Thank you Tom for going above and beyond for us! We made it safe, and we have some new great friends from it too!!! Cheers! Mandi"

Ursula Loucks - 05/28/2010

"This is my 7th time at Marina Paraiso. It is a congenial spot and I especially have enjoyed meeting the new management. Thomas and Chepo bent over backwards to be helpful. I hope to return someday soon. Thanks for all the cold cervezas. I would recommend this marina to one and all."

Greg and Marisol Valentine - 05/16/2010

"We just finished our third stay at Marina Paraiso and it won't be our last. Tom, Ely and the crew are very friendly and helpful and we were treated like family. We do not hesitate to recommend this marina to any cruisers sailing this coast."

Doug Clark - 05/15/2010

"We arrived at Marina Paraiso in Nov 2009, after a strenous voyage up from the Rio Dulce. The welcoming, helpful atmosphere was second to none. Tom, his family and crew are the best. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, and left knowing that some day we will return. Thanks to all of you, we recommend you highly, and look forward to your exciting planned expansion."

John Barker - 05/15/2010

"We had a failure to our engine controls while crossing the Yucatan straight and managed to limp into Isla Mujeres. Thomas guided us in and bought us safely into his Marina. Many people assisted for which we are extreemly grateful. Thomas and Chepo have been marvelous in their willingness to help with literally anything. I have no hesitation in recommending Marina Paraiso to anyone contemplating cruising this area."

Jim Duncan - 04/22/2010

"We arrived from keywest to isla on Dec22-2008 and was greeted by Thomas and Chepo and they did everything possible to make us feel like family,We did stay almost 2 yrs in that area and home base was at MP,I would recommend anyone going to Isla to stop at MP,I do plan on going back the end of 2010 for a stay anybody could contact me with any questions feel free to do."

Curt Nicholls - 04/11/2010

"During a S/V delivery from Galveston to Roatan, we stopped in for a few days of crew rest and boat maintenance. Thomas has assembled a staff that provides GREAT service for both boat maintenance and clear in/out assistance. This is not a fancy new (expensive) resort, but I give them five stars for the friendly and efficient service that they provide to the cruising community."

Bill Benton - 04/11/2010

"The first stop at MP was after a really nasty ride thru the Yucatan straits and I was exhausted. After securing the boat to the dock, Tom must have seen the exhaustion and reappeared shortly with cold beers for the crew...WOW... Since that trip I have been to Isla two more times and have felt more like family than just a marina tenant as is so often the case elsewhere. I would never consider staying anywhere else nor recommending another marina. MP is just the best ... I hope to eventually move my liveaboard trawler there permanently. That's how much I feel at home in the marina. If anyone would care to contact me directly with questions regarding my recommendation of MP, Tom is welcome to give out my email address and I would be pleased to be contacted personally. How much more can I say?"

"Marina Paraiso is certainly an oasis on the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres! It's great for sailboats or powerboats, especially with the new dock hookups. Everyone who works there is so nice and accommodating, I can't imagine going anywhere else. WiFi, superb weather, tasty beer at the right price, and the coolest, most unique people you are likely to come across in any voyage. Thanks for everything, Tom!"

Robin & Bob Clay - 03/24/2010

"I was always jealous of you living in "paradise" as they say. I know it's a lot of hard work;but, obviously worth it or you wouldn't be there.I just wanted you to know if you need anything to just let me know and I will see what I can do. I appreciate you. For you, maybe no small deal;but, helping me to the mainland and airport was appreciated. Regards, Al"

"Our first experience at Marina Paraiso was in February 2008. We arrived within a week of Tom taking over the Marina Managers position. He quickly took the Bull by the horns, and started renovations. By the time we were forced to leave due to work obligations at the First of May, this was the Marina to be at. Upon our return this year (2010) in February again, we find that the same situation exist. All the help you need can be arranged here."

JD and Linda Novak - 03/09/2010

"We limped into Isla Mujeres with a broken shaft on our sailboat. Thomas and Jose met us in the bay in their Ponga and towed us to a slip easy as pie. We were greatly relieved and in a flash they turned up with two cold beers and a mechanic to help us out. Our stay was a nice long one and much enjoyed. Great veiw great people great food and cold beer with some fishing thrown in-what more can you ask. We will surly come back when the winds are right..."

Charlie & Cathy Simon - 03/07/2010

"We stayed about a week at Marina Pariaso on our way from Panama to Florida. It's a great, friendly place to visit. Not only is the island wonderful but it's a short ferry ride over to Cancun and all the entertainment when you want it. We took a tour of Mayan ruins and enyoued it immensly. Thank you so much."

"We arrived at Marina Paraiso expecting to stay one night or perhaps two. Well, it was such a good experience that we stayed for two weeks. Tom and Jose helped us with all of the details that a cruiser could need; Checking in to Mexico - golf carts - a tour of the island - where to fuel - where to dock the dinghy in town - where to eat - where to shop etc etc. As for where to get a drink, Tom has the coldest beer on the island, and we enjoyed it on a beautiful patio with a lot of fun company. To paraphrase Douglas MacArthur, We shall return!"

Mark Rowell - 03/04/2010

"We where based at Marina Paraiso in 2008 on 75 ft ketch SY Phantom , at this time the marina was very quiet and in need of attention and enthusiasm . From the day Tom arrived things started changing ,4 months later we where leaving a well run ,safe friendly base for cruising yachtmen ,that is continuing to improve . Thank you Tom Eli and all staff we will definately be back !!! The Rowell Family"

"Marina Paraiso was one of our best stops in the Caribbean! In 8 years of sailing, we found no one more hospitable than Tom, his staff and family. The SSCA is proud to have this marina as a cruising station!"

Richard Wood - 03/04/2010

"Good to see everything going well for you all, Tom, Eli & of course Chepo. I arrived aboard my Contest 46, Hula late November 2008 & was immediately welcomed with rib roast even before I checked into marina. Spent the best part of three months there waiting for the "right" weather to cross to Key West - enjoyed every minute. Thanks again for your hospitality Tom. P.S. Hope the WiFi is still working ;-)"

"I have stayed in Marina Paraiso several times and I must say, Tom and Chepo are the best. They go out of their way to help cruisers even going out in the company boat and bringing broken sail boats into the marina. We look forward to returning to Isla in the near future. S/V KiKiLe"

"I have visited Marina Paraiso three times in the past three years, the last two under the efficient organization of Mr Thomas Boylan. Apart from the Island being one of the most enjoyable of any Central American places that I was fortunate to visit, I would like to add that this marina was a delightfull hub for yachties to congregate as they were traveling to their various destinations. Isla Mujeres is an enchanting Island to explore and felt safe at any time of the day or evening. The people of this Island as well as the daily happy hour make this well worth a visit."

"Marina Paraiso Isla Mujeres is a great place! The staff is absolutely wonderful. If your cruising plans take you to Mexico this is a great place to stop, clear-in, and enjoy. We did the winter of January, February, and part of March, 2009. We have fond memories of the friendly and helpful staff."

Ernie Chandler - April 2009 & September 2009 - 02/28/2010

"On a heavy weather day we arrived at Marina Paraiso Isla Mujeres, 25 April 2009, about 0630. We were aboard the new Beneteau 46, FHIL LIN BETTER. Coming from Kemah, TX with the last two and a half days being very uncomfortable, it was nice to be stopped. The wind was blowing us off the end of the dock and Tom came down and looked at us, smiled and said, I have a slip for you over here. With his New York accent, we all looked at each other and we all said, what did he say. That was the start of one of the best marina experiences we have ever had. Great marina, great people, that turned out to be great friends. After the delivery was done I brought my wife and another couple back to stay in the apartments. You can not ask for better hosts. When we pick up our new catamaran this is probably where we will stay. Tom and Elizabeth are the best. Ernie Chandler"

"Our 80 foot sailing vessel Captiva spent several months in 2009 at the Marina. Everyone was very friendly, especially the owner/manager, American Thomas Boylan. Now we are about to transit the Canal and will forever more be on the Pacific side. We have wonderful memories of this marina and Isla Mujeres."

"We made our first trip to Isla Mujeres from Marathon, FL in January of 2010. We don't usually stay at marinas but friends had recommended you to us and we're glad they did. We found everyone there to be very friendly and helpful. And clearing in using your services was a breeze. You're on our "must visit" list whenever we pass your way again. Thanks! Mark & Julie Kaynor Commodores, SSCA"
